The founder worked his way through college as a pool operator and head lifeguard. He recently had a sudden cardiac arrest event at the Carlsbad pool. Had he not been at the pool that day, he wouldn’t be around to help start this scholarship program. The professional lifeguard team on duty that day rescued him from the pool, started CPR, and resuscitated him with the help of an AED. Had he not received that immediate care, things would be different. As a way of giving back to his roots and paying it forward, we’ve started this scholarship program to recognize the professionals who look over us during our aquatic endeavors. Our goal is to recognize their potential and leadership and help them achieve their future academic and professional goals. It’s our way of saying thank you.
